St. Vincent Patron Saint of Wine
Wine is sunlight held together by water.
What though youth gave love and roses,
Vincent stands in front of a vineyard, holding a traditional grape harvester's basket filled with red grapes, and white grapes overflow his apron. His face and hat and other aspects of the scene are reminiscent of another "Vincent." I took this license because Vincent apparently became patron saint of wine growers simply because of his name. The bees, sunflowers, faithful dog, wine pitcher, fruits of the harvest, and quotes all have special meaning to me. I was inspired to make this piece by Southwestern Michigan - its blessings, beauty and bounty have provided wonderful times shared with friends and family. . . . . . . .
